Part 5: The Struggle With Unforgiveness Is Real

Feb 24, 2019    Kyle McLaughlin

Conversation starter. Start light and fun conversation in your group about the series topic.
•Who do you have in your life that you could always forgive, even if you didn’t want to?
Contemplate. Ask questions to get your group thinking about these principles.
•Read Colossians 3:12-15. Define compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience with your group. How do these “virtues” contribute to the believer’s ability to forgive?
•Read Luke 6:27-28. Who are you supposed to love and how far should you go for them?
Contribute. Ask questions that create personal openness in your group.
•Who are you having trouble forgiving? Are you willing to share more about it with the group? We realize this might be very sensitive for some.
Cry out to God. Pray intensely for your group on the topic.
Father, people do things that hurt us sometimes. They do things that are wrong and against Your word even. Help us to forgive each of them. Show us how to love them completely the way You love them. We don’t want to carry the weight of unforgiveness anymore. We decide now to forgive. We will depend on You, Holy Spirit, to guide us through the forgiving process. We want only to obey Your word. Thank You. It is in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
Commit to change. What’s a new area to grow with the Lord?
•I will live out the victory I have in Jesus over fear, anxiety, depression, and unforgiveness.
•I will seek out help if any of these things are overwhelming me.
