Part 3: Lay It Down to Raise It Up

Apr 22, 2018    Kyle McLaughlin

Conversation starter. Start light and fun conversation in your group about the series topic.
•What is something that died in your life that was later restored?
•What is something you’ve laid down for something better?
Contemplate. Ask questions to get your group thinking about these principles.
•Please read Philippians 2:3-4 and James 4:6-Is humility a weakness or a strength for believers? Explain.
•Read John 15:7-What does it look like to abide in Jesus?
•How is Jesus’s life an example of how we should be in our marriages and other relationships?
Contribute. Ask questions that create personal openness in your group.
•Speak of a time when pride has negatively affected one of your relationships.
•Describe a time in your marriage or relationship when you were able to trust in the Holy Spirit rather than yourself. What was the result?
Cry out to God. Pray intensely for your group on the topic.
Father, we lay everything down at Your feet. We ask that the Holy Spirit fills us and begins to raise our marriages, future marriages, or our singleness to be directed by that filling of the Spirit. We want to live out the purposes You have for our lives. Thank You, Lord. Amen
Commit to change. What’s a new area to grow with the Lord?
•What’s something you can laydown this week, time, selfishness, pride to improve your relationship with your spouse and Jesus?
•I will commit to reading Romans 8:11 with my spouse this week and talk about it or read and pray to talk with God about this verse.
